About Us

That's us, Karl and Katja Stevens with our little dog Ruby, chief lap warmer and treat beggar.  

We live in Llandrindod Wells, Powys; Surrounded by the wonderful Welsh hills and valleys. Since moving here in 2018 we've worked with local creatives on a variety of art and craft workshops in the Studios, but now have settled our focus on Hwgga Brew, the town's first brewery, and the associated Tap Room and Bar.

Hwgga Brew is a 2 Barrel traditional all-grain brewery in the (large) basement of our Tap Room Bar.  We produce a variety of traditional British ales from a dark Milk Stout to a Light American Cream Ale, and along the way we've won a couple of Great Taste awards for our brews. Hwgga Studios is also delighted to be accredited by the Living Wage Foundation. 

In our spare time, Karl can be seen playing fiddle or racing round Classic MX tracks while Katja and Ruby cheer from the sidelines.  Outside of race season, you'll most often find us exploring the amazing Welsh beaches or wild camping in the hills.
